Kelly J James
Fomer attorney Kelly J. James claims to have “escaped from the law” more than 20 years ago to freelance fulltime. Since then, she’s published more than 2,000 articles in print and online publications including Family Circle, Health, Parents, Runner’s World, Continental, and NextAvenue.org, and have produced written content for agencies including MXM, StayWell, and Imagination. In 2022, Kelly returned to the law and now writes legal content for Miles Mediation & Arbitration full-time. Continuing to freelance, she writes about health, wellness, nutrition, and fitness subjects but has scaled back on ghostwriting. Kelly continues to write for herself aswell. In June, 2024, her first memoir, The Book That (Almost) Got Me Fired: How I (Barely) Survived A Year in Corporate America will be published, and she looks forward to talking more about the transition from long-time freelancer to corporate cog (spoiler alert: the transition was rough but she learned a lot along the way!). When she’s not pounding the keys of my Mac, you’re likely to find her playing 8-ball, working on her golf swing, or making time for a run. Kelly lives 20 miles west of Chicago and shares her home with one son, one daughter, one rescue pup, and one very spoiled fat gray tabby cat.
