Scott Hammerstrom
Scott Hammerstrom has devoted over 19 years to working in the disability community. Currently, he is the Manager of Programs and Partnerships of the Bender Leadership Academy overseeing competency building programs that enable students with disabilities to engage in educational, empowerment, and work-readiness opportunities with a focus on setting and achieving career goals. He collaborates with educators, businesses, and students to ensure Bender Leadership Academy’s programs maintain a high standard of excellence, resulting in meaningful growth for students with disabilities. He is responsible for program growth and community relationships to expand the Bender Leadership Academy’s outreach. He joined Bender Consulting Services in 2007 as a part of the talent programs team. Prior to joining the Bender Leadership Academy, Mr. Hammerstrom was a talent programs team lead responsible for connecting talent from the disability community with public and private-sector employer partners, supporting long-term disability recipients with return-to-work planning, and workplace mentoring. Mr. Hammerstrom’s talent programming experience included managing the recruitment and maintenance of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Shared List for people with disabilities for 7 years. He has served as the regional coordinator for Disability Mentoring Day, partnering with AAPD Pittsburgh area employers for the past 16 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Robert Morris College.
