Deborah Cox
Deborah Cox is a psychologist in Springfield, Missouri. She studied at Texas Woman's University, where she recovered from a strict and repressive religious background - with the help of a diverse bunch of friends and mentors. Her study of women's anger at TWU taught her the value of emotions, especially anger, as part of the learning process. Deborah began the podcast, ReConceive, with her collaborator, Tracy Maxfield, to help the helpers as the COVID pandemic took its toll on mental health workers, physicians, and teachers. Deborah and Tracy talk and write about how we can change our practices so they support the needs of both clients and therapists. ReConceive also deals with culture change. Deborah believes that mainstream cultures disconnect us from our bodies, our right brain hemispheres, and each other, resulting in anxiety, medical problems, and loneliness. She makes art as her own therapy: her multimedia collages as well as her hypnosis videos, can be found at deborahlcox.com.
