Mike Hassell
Mike Hassell is the author of Deep Tradeoffs: Restoring Balance and Respect In A Polarized, Angry World, about eternally conflicting values underlying today’s raging culture wars. From an engineering-minded family, Mike obtained degrees in engineering (Ga Tech), then business (Harvard) and liberal arts (Vanderbilt). Over time he has steadily broadened his attention/expertise from sciences to history and humanities. Professionally he has helped ~30 startups as a senior executive, including audio publisher Knowledge Products, which produced 140+ titles on history’s great ideas. Over those decades Mike has increasingly noticed the many inconsistent values and principles found in his diverse experiences -- with a special interest in what we believe and think we know (yet may not). Mike's book and his speaking engagements connect many old ideas with newer ideas and his own fresh insights about knowledge, belief, uncertainty, imagination, truth, and disagreement.
