Sofia Castro

Sofia Castro, a driven, dynamic, and fun-loving entrepreneur. Sofia started in real estate at the age of 24. She and her husband began buying and selling single-family homes and condo conversions and then transitioned into multifamily investing. In 1993, she and her husband opened a leasing brokerage firm. In 2001, they entered a partnership and became a commercial lender in the medical industry; the company transitioned to what is today BHG Finance (Bankers Healthcare Group), which she and her husband exited in 2019 with a 1 billion dollar valuation. In 2011, she started Ortsac Capital Group, LLC, investing in small C asset garden apartments; by 2017, she had acquired 303 units across south FL, which sold the whole portfolio to upgrade to A & B assets with 100+ doors. Ortsac today holds about 750 million dollar portfolio in multifamily assets, which owns $2500~ doors between Florida, Texas, and Tennessee with no outside investors. Sofia is a passionate philanthropist. She is on the board of IDDEAL Foundation, a charity for adults with I/DD (Intellectual and developmental disabilities). She also contributes to Jack and Jill Broward and the Thembelihle School in Africa and has been involved in many other charities.
