Bob Brill

Bob Brill is an award-winning journalist, author, and film maker whose radio career spans many decades. The author of 15 books (7 of the 10 planned for the Lancer: Hero of the West series), he’s produced a feature length documentary as well as short films. The documentary “Shaken-the Great Sylmar Earthquake” details one of the most important seismic events in US history as told by the people who lived it. One of those was Bob, who was a senior at Sylmar High School when the 1971 quake hit. Bob’s story is unique in that he chose to go into radio at 18 hoping to be close to his first love: baseball. While he did some play-by-play, he fell in love with news and his career followed. A former national correspondent for the UPI Radio Network and later bureau chief in L-A, he covered some of the most important stories of the past 50 years. His story is forever embedded in the L-A riots where he was attacked while filing a story. That audio has gone viral and remains an iconic part of the overall story.
