Ruben Santiago-Hudson is an award-winning actor, writer, director, and producer known for his impactful work on stage, screen, and television. He directed the Broadway productions of "Skeleton Crew," earning four Tony nominations, and his autobiographical "Lackawanna Blues," which won multiple awards and made him the first person in Broadway history to write, direct, and star in a play. His production of "Jitney" won the Tony Award for Outstanding Revival, and he adapted August Wilson’s "Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom" for Netflix. Ruben’s notable Broadway roles include "Seven Guitars," "Jelly’s Last Jam," and "Gem of the Ocean." On screen, Ruben starred in the HBO film "Lackawanna Blues," earning Emmy, Golden Globe, and NAACP Image Awards, and recently appeared in CBS’s "East New York." His film credits include "American Gangster," "Shaft," and "Selma," and he portrayed Dr. Percy Julian in PBS’s "Forgotten Genius."
