Mark Johnson

Mark Johnson is a retired life-long disability advocate with an extensive background in independent living movement in North Carolina, Colorado and Georgia. He is currently involved with the Disability Rights Museum Group. He is Past President, Fund for Southern Communities, a progressive fund that supports social change in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Mark is also a founder of American Disabled for Accessible Public Transportation and American Disabled for Attendant Programs (ADAPT). He was Chair of the ADA Legacy Project and former Director of Advocacy for Shepherd Center from 1987-2019. He has received numerous awards during his career which include: 2007, Betts Award, 2001, New Mobility Person of the Year-1990, Distinguished Service, National Council on Independent Living.
