Esperanza Sanchez
Esperanza Sanchez was born and raised in Camano Island, Washington. After high school she decided to continue pursuing her dream of playing soccer as a college athlete and through that journey she found herself in the arms of Montevallo, Alabama. Esperanza earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health from the University of Montevallo. Esperanza has worked with individuals in a wide variety of ages and covered a diverse amount of mental health needs, especially those related to grief and loss. She is passionate about making mental health services more accessible to teenagers, athletes, and those within the Spanish speaking community. A language barrier should never be the reason someone lacks the ability to get the help they need. Esperanza strives to use her bilingual background to help those who many times go unheard and unseen in the Birmingham community. Esperanza uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Counseling techniques. Each of these practices help clients overcome the challenges that mental health issues bring to the table. In her free time, Esperanza enjoys going to the gym, helping others on their fitness journey as a Certified Personal Trainer, hiking, visiting her family in Washington, watching movies, and trying out new foods.
