Karyne Beth Miller Wilner
As a child Karyne Beth Miller Wilner played school under a mulberry tree, watching clouds shaped like elephants float by. A literature major at Carnegie Mellon, she buried herself in the writings of Camus and Dostoevsky. Attending Syracuse University on a Ford Foundation Fellowship, her Master’s degree in urban teaching helped inspire and motivate inner city children. Getting another master’s degree from Penn’s Annenberg school, Karyne studied eyeblinks with Ray Birdwhistell, father of kinesics. Her thesis was titled “The Social Meaning of Odor.” At sixteen, she dreamed of becoming a psychologist, receiving her doctorate in psychology from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her work with somatics and CBT techniques helped stroke patients decrease anger. This became the subject of her current book, now on Amazon for presales: Releasing Toxic Anger for Women: Somatic Practices & CBT Skills to Let Go of Negative Thoughts, Soothe Stress, and Stay True to Yourself.
