Coach Elvin McFarlin
Elvin McFarlin, a Vietnam veteran who served in the United States Navy from 1963 to 1967, has dedicated his life to athletics, youth development, and veteran support. Involved with AAU and USATF track and field since 1972, he has spent over 39 years volunteering in various leadership roles, including as a USAF and AAU youth chairperson. He designed, developed, and marketed the Jurisprudence Management System in 1990 and later worked as a Microsoft Legal Office Solution provider. In 1991, he founded the "Gift of Time Foundation" for youth development. Coach McFarlin has held positions in multiple professional sports, including as an NFL agent from 1992 to 2002, and collaborated with MLB and NBA organizations. His business ventures include partnerships with Nextel and Sprint, where he expanded from kiosks to storefronts. As president of the St. Louis Express Track Club, his athletes achieved seven national championships and set a record in the Boys 800m run. He also coached Olympic gold medalist, Jackie Joyner-Kersee who won three gold, one silver, and two bronze Olympic medals at four different Olympic Games. Coach's consulting work has supported brands like McDonald’s, Express Scripts, and Walgreens, and he has collaborated with Joyner-Kersee on brand elevation initiatives. Since 2013, he has led “A Grateful Nation,” a program focused on housing homeless veterans and Honor2OurHeroes, a foundation focused on ending veteran homelessness.
