Richelle Tarris
Richelle Tarris is a member of the Oneida Indian Nation of New York. She was born in Jacksonville, FL and moved to the Onondaga Indian Nation at age 5. It was there she learned the traditions of the Haudenosaunee in the long house. Richelle attended Clarkson University earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering at the age of 33. Richelle is inspired by her heritage and culture to create Native American crafts and creates jewelry using porcupine quills and glass beads. She uses deerskin to make many different crafts such as medicine pouches. She educates other crafters on the Native American Arts & Crafts Act of 1990. Richelle is an advocate for AISES and The Gates Millennium Scholarship Program. She also supports Reflection of Inspiration. Richelle is currently writing her first book on the spirit and wisdom of the tree that emulates our lives.
