There are aspects of America’s history that haven’t always made it into the history books. In this episode, Toby Asai Loftus returns, this time to share the real history of Japanese-American Incarceration during World War II. His mother, Mitzi Asai Loftus, was in the 4th grade when her family was removed. Toby has grown up hearing the family stories and has often given talks with his mother to children and adults to share the real-life experiences and ripple effects of the racism that took their lives apart. This is a historical account that remains family-friendly, but (hopefully) will spark conversation as well as deeper compassion for those experiencing racism. Since 2015, Lori Anne Rising and Uncle Mark Olmstead have been life partners in a quest to make a positive difference! Putting courage before comfort, and taking big risks to be true to their hearts, they are now sharing their mission of helping families rise and shine together.
Lori Anne is the international award-winning author of “You. Rising! Reclaim Your Life. Live Your Purpose.” This road map for women helps them shift from martyr to matriarch to live a healthier, happier, values-based life. Uncle Mark is a singer/songwriter and International Best Indie Book Award-winning children’s author who’s performed on stages all over the world. Inspired early on by John Denver, Uncle Mark is committed to making a difference one song, and one story, at a time.
