Episode Description

Kathryn interviews Author Arwinder Kaur.Ecological activist and Award-Winning author Arwinder Kaur says traveling the world in her youth was the best education she could have received, bringing her face to face with contrasting realities of the human existence. She learned that perspectives are shaped as much by mind and soul as by external circumstances. That lesson opened her eyes to the important distinction between “needs” and “wants” and how that distinction directly impacts the environment and the survival of the human species. She shares the genesis of her moral compass, tracing her own journey of self-discovery through glimpses into her life-changing experiences, encounters and choices. Kaur has dedicated her life to helping others. After attending Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, she became a social worker specializing in the area of child welfare.Kathryn also interviews Author Frank Figliuzzi. Two decades ago, the FBI was tipped off to a gruesome pattern of unsolved murders along American roadways. Today, at least 850 homicides have been linked to long-haul truck drivers—many of which are unsolved. Former FBI Assistant Director and bestselling author Frank Figliuzzi exposes a crisis in America that must be stopped. In efforts to understand the life and habits of drivers and their roadside culture, he rode in a big rig with a long-haul trucker for 2,000 miles. He has also interviewed the courageous trafficked victims of these crimes and describes their inspiring efforts to now help others avoid similar fates. Frank emphatically explains that most truck drivers are honest hard-working Americans who do not deserve to be aligned with these deviants. He is an MSNBC columnist and a National Security Analyst for NBC News and MSNBC.
