This result all too often, in cancer resurfacing in secondary medical condition. This show will help you gain a deeper understanding of the published research on the integration of natural medicines into conventional cancer care. We will discuss how various laboratory tests can analyze and identify weaknesses in one’s immune system and how this information can be used to construct a natural treatment plan. Dr. Belanger will also discuss how various laboratory tests can analyze factors that stimulate the growth of cancer and how natural medicine may overcome these growth factors. Other episodes will review the mechanisms of how cancer becomes resistant to chemotherapy and radiation and how various natural medicines may help to overcome each one of these mechanisms. We will also explore the large body of research on diet and cancer including caloric restriction, carbohydrate restriction, omega-3 fatty acids, low animal protein diets and high plant-based diets.
Dr. James Belanger
Dr. James Belanger is a licensed naturopathic doctor and medical technologist. He has a private practice in Lexington, Massachusetts and has been working with people who have cancer for over fifteen years. He received his doctorate in naturopathic medicine from Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington in 1998 and his bachelor’s degree in medical technology in 1994 from UMASS Lowell. He is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the Massachusetts Society of Naturopathic Doctors. In 1990, Dr. Belanger was diagnosed with testicular cancer and had three surgeries to enter remission. He was discouraged with the lack of information that he received about diet and complementary medicines to help prevent a recurrence. It was this experience that stimulated Dr. Belanger to scour the research on how cancer grows and evades the immune system. He currently uses his knowledge of laboratory medicine and natural medicine to identify and treat imbalances in his patients’ immune system. Findings from some of his research published in the Townsend Letter for Doctors and Patients have received awards for Best in Naturopathic Medicine in 2005.
