Episode Description

Maryann Beckman-Berman, owner of Healthy Spirals Yoga Ayurveda Meditation is on a journey to share ancient wisdom for improved health and peace of mind in modern times. Episode number 4 features Trish Kinnavy, owner of Holistic Hair by Trish in Yorkville, IL. If you’ve ever wondered what a holistic approach to hair means, now is the time to find out! Think of it as”whole-istic,” a whole-body approach, from the products to the process, whether you are getting color or sticking with a basic cut. Trish is hair color specialist, a make-up artist, a Vidal Sassoon master-level stylist trained in London, a lover of the outdoors and wildlife. She believes we owe it to the earth to make the best choices not just for us humans but for the entire ecosystem. Registered since 1986, she is a specialist in all around beauty care and spends extra time educating her customers. Her advice encourages simple changes to your normal routine. She can help guide you on your path to a less toxic and healthier life style starting with your hair. Trish takes the time to learn about you, your hair type and style, and what approach would be the best for you. Trish uses organic hair shampoo and conditioners that she custom blends for your unique needs. Her products are preservative-free and those who choose color or highlights are surprised at the low odor and not experiencing any stinging or burning. The herbal treatments are easy on the scalp as well as the hair and are long-lasting. No one will know your color or highlights came from things like henna or roses but you…and Trish. Trish is also a Freelance Artist working in the Greater Chicago for nearly 40 years. She is passionate about the natural environment and supporting local original artists. She studied sound production at The Recording Workshop in Chilicothe, Ohio and maintains her involvement in the arts in the community around her. Trish comes from a musical background as her mother performed lead vocals and stand-up bass with her three sisters in the The Fedorow Sisters Band. It is Trish’s mission to help people recognize how and what we put on and in our bodies can be causing us harm. She has long advocated how skin and hair are good indicators of our overall health and well-being. Her vision is that by caring more about what we allow on and in our bodies we will help to improve not only ourselves, but the earth and the environment for future generations to come. Tune in to hear how you can minimize the toxic chemicals so many of us are accustomed to using without realizing safer, healthier, holistic options exist.
