Episode Description
Have you ever wanted to know if there were connections between human and animal health? Be sure to listen to today’s show as co-authors Barbara Natterson-Horowitz, M.D. and Kathryn Bowers discuss their findings on the astonishing connections we share with animals. Inspired by an eye-opening consultation at the Los Angeles Zoo, which revealed that a monkey experienced the same symptoms of heart failure as her human patients, cardiologist Natterson-Horowitz embarked upon a project that would reshape how she practiced medicine. She began informally researching every affliction that she encountered in humans to learn whether it happened with animals, too. Natterson-Horowitz and science writer Kathryn Bowers have dubbed this pan-species approach to medicine zoobiquity. Join us as they present a revelatory understanding of what animals can teach us about the human body and mind, exploring how animal and human commonality can be used to diagnose, treat, and heal patients of all species.

It has often been said that the love of a dog is the closest thing to divine love we will ever receive in this world. To honor that, our show will highlight the unique human/canine connection by speaking of the strengths, sorrows and stories of purpose that dogs bring to our lives. We will learn about the miraculous ways that non-profit agencies train dogs to better the lives of the people they serve, and how that enriches the dog’s life as well. Through call in stories, we will hear about the deep connection, bravery, silliness, and love shared between a dog and everyone its life touches. We will also cover important topics such as training, wellness and maintaining your dog’s health and fitness. If you love dogs, this is the show for you!

By trade, Pamela Hill is a business professional with over twenty five years of experience in business continuity planning, disaster and emergency preparedness for a wide variety of industries.
After a successful run as a VoiceAmerica Host on Fear is Negotiable: Business Survival Skills 101, covering emergency preparedness in businesses, she decided to switch gears to talk about her true passion, dogs and their uniquely close relationship with humans.
Pam’s love affair with all things canine started when she was young, where she traveled throughout the west coast competing in dog shows with her client’s dogs, and also in obedience events with her own dogs. That was a long time ago, but the love of dogs was like a siren song, calling her back.
Now, Pam is focusing the show on education and creating awareness of all the ways dogs and human enrich each other’s lives.
